Christmas Day brought double joy to several mothers at Ridge Hospital as they celebrated the birth of their newborns on the special occasion.
The atmosphere at the maternity ward was filled with happiness and excitement as families welcomed their bundles of joy, making the festive season even more memorable.
For the mothers, delivering their babies on Christmas added a unique and heartwarming touch to the holiday.
On JoyNews' visit today, one shared her excitement, saying it was her second time giving birth.
She revealed that she delivered a baby girl and did not expect to deliver on December 25.
"I woke up and realised today is Christmas Day," she said with a smile.
A midwife at the hospital also spoke about the day’s activities, explaining that many deliveries often occur throughout Christmas Day.
"In most cases, we usually have mothers giving birth from 12 am till the day is over, so we are likely to have more mothers coming to the hospital to deliver,” she said.
She added that as of this morning, 8 deliveries had been recorded, with a total of 12 since last night with some more expected.
The midwife expressed her excitement about mothers delivering on this special day, saying it brought joy to both the staff and the families.
