Ghanaian reggae artist Black Prophet believes most compatriots have nothing meaningful to say in their songs.

During an interview on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz with DJ Slim, he explained that Ghanaians do not appreciate good music, therefore, all that is being pushed out is “fast” music.

He said, “You can elevate people from different classes at the same time when you have something to say”.

The reggae star added that by making “fast” music, one might not learn the lessons as an alternative to making waves faster.

He opined that this is because money serves as a distraction, and for that reason, most musicians have no real-life experiences to share in their music, even though the message determines the relevance of a song.

The ‘Times Like This’ singer cited an example of when he had no money at the beginning of his career, owning just a pair of shoes and trousers, and how grateful he is, for that experience inspired most of the stories he shared through his music.

According to him, musicians can uplift or bring down listeners based on the message they carry.

He added that most artistes have not experienced much hence have very little to share.

Black Prophet encouraged artists to share their life experiences through their music.
