Member of Parliament for Mion, Musah Abdul-Aziz Ayaba has provided school uniforms for students of Bourido Primary School in his constituency.
The uniforms, numbering over 130, were received by the school’s headmaster and the chairperson of the Parent-Teacher Association.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony, the headmaster, Muzamil Hafiz said he is grateful to the legislator for paying special attention to students.
“We are grateful to Hon Ayaba for this gesture, he’s the first MP from this constituency to actually fulfil his promise in less than a year. As the headteacher of the school, I am delighted that he’s paying so much attention to the education of these young ones,” he indicated.
The school’s PTA Chairperson said the gesture by the MP will improve attendance.
“We are extremely thankful to Hon. Ayaba. She indicated that most of the kids were unable to go to school regularly because they had no uniforms and some of them had to even drop out but now that Hon. Ayaba has come to donate uniforms, our children can finally go to school regularly and we the parents are very excited,” she said.
Handing over the uniforms, the MP Musah Abdul-Aziz Ayaba encouraged students to take their academic work seriously.
He further tasked them to be disciplined in the discharge of their duties.
“I will encourage all of you to take your studies more seriously and be disciplined as you are our future leaders,” he said.
This move, according to Mr Ayaba, is part of his plans of making Mion a better place for his constituents.
