General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has intimated that the Minority leadership in Parliament has not been compromised.
According to him, the creation of new vacancies when a party loses is crucial in the review of front line leaders with the purpose of getting a team that can prosecute the agenda of the NDC in Parliament.
His comment follows concerns raised by opposition NDC members about the consensus approval of Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta and new levies imposed by government in the 2021 budget.
These and other happenings including the voting of three ministerial nominees Hawa Koomson, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and Dr Owusu Afriyie-Akoto heightened concerns about possible palm greasing in the house.
But Mr Nketia said Minority's leaders in Parliament have not been comprised in any way.
“Why are we talking about compromise of leadership from my side. Not at all I have heard about those things but compromising has been the burden of every leader,” he told the host of The Probe, Emefa Apawu.
Mr Nketia stated that the issue of compromising also “brings us to even my appointment as Member of the Parliament and service board" because immediately the names came there were attempts by some detractors to frame up issues to let it look like his appointment was a bargain.
"So who put my side under pressure if it not NPP then how could I have been compromised because NPP excuse my language would look stupid if they go to pay money to get somebody they don’t look to be on the Parliamentary service board," he stated.
