Mr Joseph Yieleh Chireh, Minister of Health said on Tuesday that his sector Ministry has initiated steps to provide every district, municipality and metropolis with a public hospital.
Mr Yieleh Chireh who made this known on the floor of Parliament said Diaso hospital in the Upper Denkyerah West District was one of the priority locations for a new district hospital due to the strong need for it.
He said it was anticipated that the construction of a hospital at Diaso would take place soon under China Exim Bank's Preferential Buyers Credit proposal which was before Cabinet for approval.
Mr Yieleh Chireh said the salaries and allowances due for midwifery graduates of Korle-Bu Nursing School had been captured for payment by the end of March 2011.
He said the ministry would supply 4,000 motorcycles for all public health facilities in the country.
The ministry also facilitated the acquisition of a new pick-up vehicle for the Sefwi Akontombra District Health Directorate on hire purchase to support the sub-districts including the Akontombra Health Centre.
