The Minister of Ports, Railways and Harbours, Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Ekumfi, has expressed dissatisfaction over public comments on the energy crisis.
He said comments from the public seemed to portray the government as not doing anything about the problem and gave the assurance that the "government is bent on taking all of us out of the darkness".
Prof. Ameyaw-Ekumfi was speaking at a day's seminar on the 2006/07 budget for district budget and planning officers in the Eastern region at Koforidua at the weekend.
He said since the basis of the crisis was shortage of water, the government had plans to have investors to install energy generating plants and that the mining companies and the Volta River Authority (VRA) were close to providing one of such facilities.
Prof. Ameyaw-Ekumfi appealed to Ghanaians to be patient whilst the government worked to solve the crisis because "every responsible government who wants the mandate of the people would not sleep whiles they are in crisis".
