The Central Regional Minister, Nana Ato Arthur has lauded the efforts and commitment of the opposition political parties, especially the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for actively participating in the Golden Jubilee celebration in the region.
He underscored the importance of the Golden jubilee celebration in the history of the country and stressed that its celebration was not about any political party at 50 but Ghana at 50 and all must endeavour to actively participate in all the programmes lined-up for the year’s jubilee celebration.
Nana Arthur said this when he hosted a jubilee reception at the residency in Cape Coast, which was attended by people from all walks of life, including Peter Cardinal Appiah Turkson, Archbishop of Catholic diocese of Cape Coast and Professor Emmanuel Adow Obeng, Vice Chancellor of UCC.
He said the participation of the opposition parties and the large number of patriotic citizens in the parade and other activities of the anniversary showed that there has been a renaissance within the year and that the region and Ghana shall arise and shine.
He paid a glowing tribute to the country’s leaders in the struggle for independence and asked people in the region to unite and forge ahead with the development of the nation.
Nana Arthur stressed the important role the region played in the history of the nation’s independence, adding that the bond of 1844 and the Aborigines Rights Protection Society all started in the region and all must be proud of that and asked them to approach the next 50 years with commitment and positive change of life.
“Let us be committed in whatever we do as citizens, for we have only one Ghana to protect, let us change our attitude to move the nation and region forward”.
He asked that Ghanaians should be thankful to God for taking the nation to this far and asked that everything should be done to maintain the peace that was currently prevailing in the country.
