Osafric Ventures Limited, a mining and construction company, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), has embarked on its annual donations to persons and institutions in need of support.
This year, it was the turn of the pupils of Genesis Shishidzee Organization, based in James Town, Accra to also benefit.
Items donated to the organisation which amounted to ₵13,000 included bags of rice, assorted drinks, exercise books, pens, pencils, sharpeners, erasers, toiletries, and gallons of liquid soap.
This organization is of the firm belief that every child has the right to basic education and hence offers such education services in the relatively deprived area of Jamestown in the Greater Accra Region, Chief Executive Officer of Osafric Ventures, Oscar Sarfo Adu, said.
“The location is particularly noted to be at the mercy of an abattoir or slaughterhouse where the stench coupled with other activities and sanitation concerns have been raised”, he added.
“Osafric moved in with the aim of also reducing the incidence of teenage pregnancy in these areas by educating and making sure that children of school-going age stay in school and desist from activities and social vices that have often led to school-drop outs and truancy”, he further stressed.
The CEO of Osafric Ventures, who prefers to be addressed as the main servant of the company, addressing the gathering reiterated why the school was chosen as a beneficiary for this year’s humanitarian gesture.
According to him, a prior visit to the school by a team from Osafric identified the school as a thriving one with lots of needs.
“The organization operates a tuition-free school and provides the pupils with all the required learning materials. The children are also fed breakfast and lunch, which has been a major motivation for the high attendance and enrolment rate. The environment where the school is located was also a major factor in selection because it is situated in the community where the children are drawn from, giving them easy access,” Mr. Oscar Sarfo Adu emphasized.
For his part, the Founder of Genesis Shishidzee, Madam Rachael Annan, thanked the benefactors for their magnanimity and extending a helping hand to her organization.
“Our organization has been able to stand the test of time due to philanthropic gestures like these and we would like to further assure you and the entire Osafric team that the donated items would be put to efficient use.”
Osafric, with the motto; service, our pride, takes delight in helping the less privileged in society so as to bridge the poverty gap.
