President Mills has lifted the ban placed on seven former Army Generals from entering any military installations.
The ban was imposed on Lt. Gen. Arnold Quainoo, former General Officer Commanding; Brigadier General Nunoo Mensah, former Chief of Defence Staff; and Rear Admiral Owusu Ansah.
The rest are former Chief of Naval Staff (now deceased), Mr C.K. Dewornu; former Inspector General of Police, F.Y. Asare, former Greater Accra Regional Police Commander; Bruce Konuah, former Defence Advisor to Pakistan; and W.K Aboah, former Commissioner of Police.
National Security during the Kufour administration imposed the ban on the former officers following a meeting they (military officers) with former President Jerry John Rawlings which national security officials said threatened the security of the state.
But addressing a parade of military officers at Burma Camp, President Mills overturned the ban.
The visit to the military headquarters is the president’s first since he assumed power five months ago.
Joy News' presidential correspondent Stephen Anti who witnessed the parade said the president's announcement was received with a lot of cheers.
Prof Mills did not make any policy promises to the forces.
He however advised the military not to support miscreants who might want to greet the country's oil find with violence.
