David Duncan is aiming for a perfect start when the qualifiers for the 2012 London Olympic Games begins this weekend for the Black Meteors.
Ghana would host Sudan in Accra on Saturday in the first leg of the second-round qualifying fixtures.
Thirty-two sides are involved in the second-round stage of qualifying and the top three teams will represent the continent at London 2012. The fourth-placed team will contest the play-off match with an Asian team.
And for the former U-17 coach preparing for his first competitive game as coach of the Black Meteors, a positive result against an improving nation, Sudan, would set up a good start to the campaign.
“We only need to use the rest of the days to sharpen up our rough edges and I am quite sure we will get a good result on Saturday.
“My boys are ready and I know they will rise up to the occasion. They know this is a perfect and fine opportunity for them to establish themselves," Duncan said ahead of the game on Saturday at the Ohene Djan Stadium.
“They are also aware of the fact that a good showing at the U-23 level will give them a prospect of making it to the senior side”, Duncan stated.
Duncan, who is taking up his second national team job, admits there is pressure to succeed as expectations are high after Ghana missed out of the 2008 Beijing Games.
“I only need to focus and get my tactics right so that we will start the competition on a good note.
“Our target is to go all out in both competitions and to achieve the ultimate in all competitions.”
Ghana will travel away for the return leg on the weekend of April 8-10 in Khartoum.
