Two non-governmental organisations have donated hospital equipment for distribution to three hospitals in the capitals of
the northern regions.
Northern Ghana Aid (NOGAID), which is working to alleviate the sufferings in Northern Ghana and Brothers' Brother Foundation, donated the equipment worth 100,000 dollars, mainly for surgical operations, to the Tamale Teaching Hospital and Wa and Bolgatanga regional hospitals.
Mr. Mustapha Sanah, Executive Chairman of NOGAID, who presented the equipment to an official of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), said the donation was in line with its objective to improve on the health needs of the people in that part of the country.
He said NOGAID was committed to poverty reduction with specific interventions in ICT, education and skills training and was currently spending six billion cedis to promote micro-enterprise, gender empowerment and health.
Mr Sanah expressed the hope that the instruments would facilitate more surgical operations and contribute to quality health care in the beneficiary communities and called on corporate bodies and development partners to support the development drive in northern Ghana.
Mr. Emmanuel Tidakbi, Director of Administration at GHS, lauded the NGOs for complementing government's effort at making health care accessible to all, especially with the introduction of the National Health Insurance Scheme.
He promised that the equipment would be distributed fairly to the beneficiary hospitals to facilitate up-to-date quality health care delivery.
