A circuit court at Cape Coast on Wednesday remanded James Amoah alias Kwesi Atta a 56-year-old radio mechanic into prison custody for allegedly defiling a 12 year-old class six pupil at Assin Nyamebebu near Assin Fosu.
He pleaded not guilty and would reappear on January 4, 2008.
Prosecuting, Mr Anthony Rexford Wiredu, Principal State Attorney, told the court, presided over by Mr Richard Asiedu-Badu, that both Amoah and the victim lived in the same vicinity.
He said in November this year, Amoah lured the victim into his room under the pretext of sending her, but sexually abused her and promised to give her GH¢5.00 (50,000 cedis) and warned her not to tell anyone or else his juju would kill her.
He said on December 3 this year, at about 1930 hours Amoah again called the victim and told her that the GH¢5.00 he promised her was ready and that she should come to his room for it.
Mr Wiredu said the victim followed him to his room and he pushed her onto his bed and sexually abused her again.
According to him, whiles the victim was following Amoah to his room a witness in the case saw them and informed the father of the victim who rushed to Amoah’s house, knocked at his door twice before he opened and came out sweating and trying to wear his shorts.
He said the victim’s father entered Amoah’s room and saw the victim sitting on his (Amoah’s) bed and when he asked Amoah what the girl was doing in his room at the time of the night he could not give any tangible reason and the matter was reported to the chief who in turned referred them to the police since it was a criminal case.
