A district magistrate's court in Wa has sentenced a 34-year old motor mechanic, Abdulai Osman to two years imprisonment for stealing a mobile phone belonging to an ex-military officer.
He had pleaded not guilty but the court presided by Nana Rockson Kpodo, found him guilty with the offence of unlawful entry and stealing after a brief trial.
Police Inspector Stephen Frimpong told the Court that on August 26, this year, Abdulai visited Alhaji Osman, a retired military officer and demanded money to buy food.
The accused was however not satisfied with an amount of GH¢1 (10,000 cedis) given to him by the complainant and stole his Motorola camera phone valued at GH¢150 (1.5 million cedis) after the complainant had left the room to see someone off.
He offered to sell the phone to someone for GH¢35 (350,000 cedis) but he was arrested.
