A Member of the Interim Management Committee of the Local Black Stars, George Afriyie has admitted that the decision of the team’s technical handlers to call up over 60 players into camp for screening could drain the GFA’s finances.
The first batch of players began training yesterday to prepare for next year’s Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) in Sudan.
Ghana finished as runners up in the maiden tournament two years ago and is keen on building on that success story.
Speaking to Dennis Mirpuri on the Joy Sports Track, George Afriyie noted that the move is to allow for the selection of effective players for the continental competition.
He said although management members found the mass call-up quite problematic, they have decided to accept it in good faith.
