A Tarkwa Circuit Court has fined a 26-year old mason, John Nyarko, an amount of GH¢480.00 for stealing a television set.
He pleaded guilty to causing unlawful damage but not guilty to unlawful entry and stealing.
Prosecuting, Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah, told the Court that the complainant in the case is Rebecca Baidoo, a hairdresser, while the convict is a mason who lives in Tarkwa.
He said on January 9, the complainant visited her shop and realised that thieves had broken into it and stolen her 32 inch Samsung television set valued at GH¢1,290.00.
She, therefore, lodged a complaint with the Tarkwa Railway Police.
Chief Inspector Amponsah said the complainant received a tip-off that the convict was in possession of a stolen television set, therefore, she alerted the police and Nyarko was picked up for interrogation.
The convict led the police to an uncompleted building at Bogrekrom, a suburb of Tarkwa, and retrieved the stolen item.
Nyarko told the police that he bought the television set from someone at the cost of GH¢600.00, but he could not lead the police to the person.
