French giants Olympique Marseille have responded to security concerns raised by Ghana star Andre Ayew by promising first class security to all players of the club.
Andre, 21, together with his brother, Jordan Ayew suffered two robbery attacks in six months.
Ayew, who was voted Marseille of player of the year last season admitted he was pondering a move away from the Stade Velodrome after the latest robbery incident which occurred in last May.
But Marseille officials have announced that they have arranged for tight security for their playing squad this season after another Marseille player Vitorino Hilton suffered a robbery attack.
A club statement read: “OM has decided to “take bull by the horns ” and has already taken several steps. Alongside the director of security and organization, Guy Cazadamont, sporting director Jose Anigo. As of Wednesday evening, security guards will be outside the homes of players.
Vehicles of a security company in contact with the police will turn all night outside the homes of all players and staff according to residential areas defined in advance and more sensitive sectors will be developed later with the continued presence of vigilantes.
“It’s absurd to get there” regretted Jose Anigo who also said that the club had advised the players living in isolated houses to move to apartments, and that the principle of housing stock was in the study even if it is “difficult to accommodate everyone in one place.”
Andre linked with moves to Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Manchester United has returned to pre-season with the team in France.
