With just a day after the GT/Vodafone sales agreement was approved by Parliament, Management of GT say with Vodafone as partners, Ghanaians will see changes in the operations of the company in 120 days. Head of Corporate communications Major Rtd Don Chebe said a programme time line with specific targets have been set, with the ultimate aim of growing the subscriber base, and offering better services for all Ghanaians. In an interview with JOY news, Major Don Chebe said their first target will be to minimise the little frustrations customers go through before subscribing to the broadband and fixed lines. According to him a 30-60 day target has been set to resolve the problem, after which customers would only have 48 hours to get their fixed and broadband subscriptions. Deputy Minister of Communications Fred Opare Ansah in a separate interview said Vodafone has to meet key performance indicators set by the National Communications Authority. Vodafone is by the agreement expected to complete and roll out the fibre network in two years, as well as ensure a capital investment to the tune of $500million in Ghana telecom within a period of five years. These together with the expected competition between the various communications companies in the country is what Mr. Opare Ansah say will ultimately improve the quality of services in the country.
