Abdul Razak, a 20-year-old unemployed resident in Kumasi last Monday got drown in River Kwasu at Maabang in the Ahafo-Ano North district.
According to Police Inspector David Osei Amankwah of Maabang Police Station, the deceased who visited his grandfather at Maabang accompanied his younger brother, Sule Oscar, 14, to their farm.
He said on their way back home, Razak decided to wash down in the river and jumped into it from a bridge, but he did not re-surface and got drowned.
Oscar then rushed home and reported the incident to his grandfather, Sulemana Bukari who informed the assemblyman, the chief and police and they mobilized some divers to retrieve the body from the river.
The body has since been deposited at the Tepa district hospital mortuary for autopsy.
