A drinking spree involving two galamsey operators at Potroase near Kyebi in the Eastern Region, last Friday turned nasty when one of them stabbed the other for allegedly flirting with his girlfriend.
The suspect Kofi Korang, is reported to have used a broken bottle to stab his friend Kwasi Marfo, 35, in his left chest and head.
A number of residents of the area were said to have rushed to the scene of the stubbing where Marfo laid in a pool of blood and managed to send him to the Kyebi Government Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
According to the Akim Municipal Police Commander, DSP Teye Martey, the incident reportedly took place at the drinking spot where the two had gone for a drink, during which Korang was said to have accused Marfo of flirting with his girlfriend.
Marfo's body has been deposited at the Kyebi Government Hospital, while Korang is in police custody assisting in investigation into the incident.
DSP Martey told the Daily Graphic that the suspect would be put before court in Kyebi on Monday.
