A 27-year-old unemployed was on Monday remanded in prison custody by Tema Circuit court ‘A’ for allegedly robbing a woman of her bag, phone and cash totalling GH¢165 at knife point.
Richard Owusu pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on February 5.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Mary Assunta, told the court presided over by Mrs Lauren Owusu that Mr Nelson Fiahor, a witness decided to lay ambush to track down on perpetrators behind the attack on ladies following series of armed robbery attacks within Dome and Mannet Court at Spintex road.
She said during that time the accused armed with a knife attacked Madam Gloria Afriyie threatening her to give up her bag.
The prosecution said the victim sensing danger took off in panic with the accused chasing her which resulted in her sustaining a severe shoulder injury.
She said the accused after taking the bag which contained a Nokia phone, some personal clothing, and GH¢10 cash took to his heels.
The prosecution said the witness who was monitoring the incident raised the alarm leading to the arrest of the accused who was found with two knives while the bag was retrieved from him.
After investigations he was charged with the offence.
