A 24-year-old labourer has been sentenced to 60 days imprisonment by a Circuit Court in Accra for posting his ex-girlfriends nude pictures on Facebook, a social media platform.
David Dickson Donkoh is said to have embarked on the act after his ex-girlfriend terminated their year old relationship.
According to the complainant, (the girlfriend), Donkoh had slept with her close friend hence the decision to quit the relationship.
In his bid to show his powers, Donkoh posted the complainant's nude pictures on Facebook after he had asked the complainant to rescind her decision, but she refused.
Charged with causing emotional, verbal and psychological abuse to the victim, Donkor pleaded guilty and the court presided over by Ms Sedina Agbemeva convicted him on his own plea.
Handing down the sentence, the trial judge noted that the act was a gross violation of the victims right to privacy and it further undermined her dignity.
According to the court, the pictures uploaded by Donkoh could also be broadcasted by others, noting that, these trends of revenge were unfortunate.
Inspector Kofi Atimbire, who prosecuted, told the court that the complainant was a student and resides at Chorkor, where Donkoh also lives.
Inspector Atimbire said both Donkoh and the complainant were school mates and completed Senior High School in 2008.
According to the prosecutor, the complainant was a fiance to Donkoh for a year but about 2 months ago, the complainant terminated the relationship because Donkoh had sex with her close friend.
Prosecution said on January 22, this year, the complainant had a call from her friends asking her to go to Facebook and WhatsApp to see what was happening.
Inspector Atimbire said after visiting those media platforms, the complainant saw her nude pictures. The complainant then called Donkoh demanding answers for his actions.
Prosecution said Donkoh replied that he wanted to embarrass her so that no man would marry her in future.
Complainant reported the matter to the police and the accused was arrested.
Inspector Atimbire said in Donkoh's caution statement, he admitted having uploaded the naked pictures of the complainant only for a few minutes but deleted them.
According to prosecution, Donkoh said the complainants friends who were on line at that time saw the picture and informed her.
The prosecutor said Donkoh indicated that he loved the complainant so much that he did not know what to do after she decided to end the relationship.
