A Kumasi Circuit Court has sentenced Baba Musah 28, a public place of convenience attendant to 14 years imprisonment in hard labour on his own plea for defiling a 13-year-old Junior Secondary School student.
Assistant Superintendent of Police, George Appiah-Sakyi prosecuting told the court presided over by Mr Adutwum Mmorosah, that Musah works at the K.O. Methodist School at Ashanti New Town, a suburb of Kumasi where the victim's mother sells roasted plantain.
He said in the afternoon of August 28, this year, Musah went to the victim's mother to purchase some roasted plantain but since it was not ready, he took the victim's younger brother who was then crying to his place.
ASP Appiah-Sakyi said the victim was later sent by her mother to go for the child and when she arrived Musah lured her into a small room and defiled her.
He said the accused had already defiled her on three different occasions.
The prosecution said the victim who could not contain the ordeal this time revealed it to her mother and a report was made to the Manhyia Police who arrested the accused.
He said the case was transferred to the Domestic Violence and Victims' Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana police for investigations after which the accused was charged with the offence.
