A Mr Emmanuel K. Kpoti, 32, unemployed, was arrested by the Kadjebi Police on Tuesday for posing as an operative of the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI).
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mr Hope Bonuedi, Kadjebi District Police Commander, told the Ghana News Agency that the suspect was arrested when he told a police officer that he was an operative of the BNI stationed at Golokwati on special assignment in the Kadjebi area.
He said the officer, suspecting Kpoti to be an impostor, took him to the police station where he failed to produce his service identity card let alone mention any of the Divisional or District Commander's names.
Mr Bonuedi said the suspect would be charged for falsely pretending to be a public officer to serve as deterrent to would-be impostors.
