Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong has told Mario Balotelli to "be a man" and overcome any adversity that presents itself before him.
The young Italian striker has been widely reported to be having trouble settling in at Eastlands, with some sections claiming that the 20-year-old could move back to Serie A.
However, the forward's Dutch team-mate has offered the player some advice, insisting that "what doesn’t break you, can’t kill you".
"I had the same problems when I came here," De Jong was quoted as saying by The Express. "It’s a different mindset.
"The English culture is all about hardness, toughness, and trying to be a man as soon as possible.
"It’s about character and mentality. What doesn’t break you can’t kill you, that’s what I have tried to tell Mario.
"Just do your thing on the pitch and people will talk about you in a positive way."
