A man has been charged after being stopped by police while driving a vehicle stolen from the East of England Ambulance Service.
Police were contacted in the early hours of New Year's Day after reports a rapid response car had been stolen from Valley Road, Clacton in Essex.
The Honda Accord's tracker was activated and police pursued it on the southbound carriageway of the A12.
The 28-year-old man, of east London, is due at Chelmsford magistrates later.
He has been charged with aggravated vehicle-taking, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without insurance and obstructing a police officer.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Following a short pursuit, it [the vehicle] was stopped just after Junction 16 near Galleywood.
"A section of the carriageway was closed for 30 minutes while the car was recovered and debris cleared from the road."
