A 38-year-old farmer from Gomoa-Tekyim in the Central Region, Kwesi Odoom is helping the Winneba Police in their investigations into the killing of one Kojo Takyi.
The Winneba Municipal Police Commander ASP Jordan Quaye disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview in Winneba on Tuesday.
He said at about 1100 hours on May 24, a misunderstanding arose between Odoom, the accused and the deceased Kojo Takyi over a key belonging to a co-tenant.
ASP Quaye said when Odoom demanded the key to the room and Takyi refused, Odoom became annoyed.
Odoom went to his house, came back later in an hours time armed himself with cutlass and a piece of iron metal.
ASP Quaye said Odoom attacked Takyi who was relaxing in his room but Takyi managed to collect the cutlass from him.
The Police Commander said Takyi first hit doom with the metal and Odoom replied by hitting him with the cutlass on his head giving him a deep cut.
He said the deceased bled profusely and died soon because of lack of transport to reach hospital on time.
According to the Police Commander the body has been deposited at a private mortuary near Agona Swedru while Odoom has been placed in police custody at Winneba pending further investigations.
