Maltiti Foundation, a Ghanaian charity organisation, has provided free health screening and medication for about 2000 in the Oti Region.
This happened on November 8 and 9, 2024 during its two-day charity trip to the region.
The screening activities, held at Chinderi and Banda, saw a significant turnout. Doctors, nurses, and volunteers attended to various health conditions including hypertension, diabetes, malaria, postpartum depression, chronic heart diseases, and other complications. Medicines worth thousands of Ghana cedis were distributed to everyone in need.
Speaking to the media after the screening, Mr. Mark Kwashie, the Clinical Coordinator of the local Health Directorate, expressed his appreciation for the overwhelming effort by the doctors and appealed to the charity organization to continue their support.
Fawzia Karim, founder of the Maltiti Foundation, expressed her satisfaction with the turnout during the two-day exercise. She urged residents to take health checks seriously, as reports from the medical team highlighted urgent health needs.
She also called on the Ministry of Health, Ghana Health Service, and stakeholders in the healthcare sector to maximize sensitization initiatives in remote areas like this district.
Hajia Salima Karim, a board member of the Maltiti Foundation, also urged patrons to take personal hygiene and sanitation seriously to avoid exposure to environmental toxins like malaria.
This is the second time in 2024 that the Maltiti Foundation has made a charity trip to the region. In May, the organization donated learning materials worth 50,000 Ghana cedis to selected schools in the Banda area and supported women in business with seed capital to expand their enterprises.
For the past decade, the Maltiti Foundation has prioritized education and healthcare for children and women in the Savanna, Greater Accra, Volta, and Eastern regions of Ghana, and is looking forward to extending this initiative to other parts of the country.
