Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris has been ruled out for three weeks after undergoing surgery on his left hand.
According to a statement on his club website, Waris, who was making his second appearance for French side Lorient, suffered a fracture to his hand after landing awkwardly and is estimated to be out for three weeks.
Waris has a long history of injuries that has staggered a once promising career. He has missed two AFCON’s due to injury and went to the World Cup in Brazil half fit after suffering injury in a warm up game againt South Korea.
That was on the back of break through season with Valneciennes in the Ligue 1.
More injury trouble followed him during his time in Turkey with Trabzonspor last season which caused him a regular place in the team.
His latest injury will come as a blow to Ghana coach, Avram Grant, who is preparing to name his squad for Ghana's 2017 AFCON qualifier against Rwanda in Kigali.
