Syndicated Entertainment Solution Ltd, in partnership with the Gaming Commission of Ghana and the National Lottery Authority (NLA) has launched the Ghana Gaming & Lottery Awards in Accra.

The launch will see the awards event held in September 2024 to reward various players in the industry.

Speaking at the launch, the Director of Syndicated Entertainment Solution Mrs. Manuella Frempomaa Ansong, said it is time to identify and encourage individuals and companies promoting responsible gaming and lottery in Ghana.

She pointed out that the move will ensure compliance in line with applicable laws to meet best international practices.

Mrs. Ansong stressed that it is important to recognize industry players upholding the law to foster innovation, and promote responsible gaming practices to help government rake in revenue.

“Gaming and lottery, much like any other form of entertainment can bring excitement and joy, however, it is essential that it remains a fun and controlled activity, free from negative impacts that can arise through non-compliance and indifference to its effect on society,” she added.

She announced that there will be an evaluation Committee of the Award, which will be a Seven-Member Committee composed of representative from NLA and Gaming Commission, an auditor, lawyer and a member from the European Lotteries.

On his part, the Director General of the NLA Mr. Samuel Awuku, thanked Syndicated Entertainment Solution for introducing the exciting initiative to reward.

He is of the view that the project would help demystify the myths about gaming and lotteries, and bring to the fore the importance of lottery to economic development.

He is hopeful the public will begin to understand that lottery is good development tool if the right rules and laws are enforced.

“Lottery and Gaming are tools that could be used to accelerate development. We can all accept the fact that the money that is made by the NLA goods into national development”

“While the Gaming and Lottery Awards seek to honour persons practising responsible gaming and compliance, it is expected to expose the activities of perpetrators of illegal lottery operations, which are our biggest detractors,” he added.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Gaming Commission of Ghana, Peter Mireku, said, the awards will encourage culture of responsibility and mindfulness within the  gaming industry.

He said the collaboration between the NLA and the Gaming Commission will send a strong signal of unity to industry places when enforcing the laws.

“Let us remember that responsible gaming is a collective responsibility”, Mr Mreku said.
