Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia has downplayed former President John Mahama’s contribution to the country’s workforce.
According to him, the Mahama administration did not focus on this area, leading to massive unemployment.
He said this at the 8th Ghana CEO Summit underway in Accra.
“That collapsed economy is performing better than your [John Mahama] economy that you left us."
Dr Bawumia said it took the NPP's intervention to improve the country's labour force explaining that "we have created more jobs, 2.1 million jobs than any kind in the Fourth Republic. He [Mahama] was creating unemployment with dumsor and everything."
"We are creating jobs, 1.2 million jobs in the public sector, 975,000 jobs in the private sector. And all of this is data that we have put out for everybody.
We've constructed more roads than any other government in the Fourth Republic, done more railways, done more airports, built more public libraries than any other government in the Fourth Republic…,” he said.
The theme for the event was 'Reigniting business and economic growth; charting a path forward.'
Established in 2016, the Ghana CEO Summit annually convenes over 500 top CEOs, Heads of State, entrepreneurs, and business leaders from across West Africa and the globe.
