Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Perry Curtis Okudzeto and of Inner City and Zongo Development Minister, Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, say they are impressed with work done so far on the Madina mini-stadium.
The first phase of the facility which is being constructed by the Inner-City & Zongo Development Ministry with technical assistance from the Sports Ministry project has been completed with full work expected to be done by mid-October this year.
The first phase of the facility has an AstroTurf pitch capable of hosting 11-aside football games and a stand.
Mr Okudzeto and Dr Abdul-Hamid on Wednesday inspected the facility to familiarize themselves with the work done.
Addressing the media after inspection, Mr Okudzeto said, “This facility here is a standard community park and should be seen as such and which qualifies to host any kind of tournament.”
“I support the vision of both the Inner City and Zongo Development Ministry initiators of the project and the Sports Ministry in making sure that the facilities both outfits are putting in place the country at the end of the day would improve the skills of the budding young talents we have.”

On his part, Dr Abdul-Hamid said the facility will enhance the capability and local league, juvenile league as well as the various division and then for export in terms of the number of players the country is able to polish up for the foreign markets.
The facility when completed will have a multipurpose court, 5- aside pitch, basketball court, changing room, public washroom, CCTV camera installation with control rooms and floodlights.
The project is instructed by Ghana's Markert Leaders in Artificial football turf Construction and management, Wembley Sports Construction Co. Ltd and is the single biggest Artificial Sports Complex with astroturf. It’s among three of such projects in some selected Zongo Communities.
