As part of its corporate social responsibility, Wilmar Africa has donated Alife and Jamaa soap brands to some mothers at the Police Hospital in Accra under its Maame Mo campaign. Speaking to Joy Business, Brands Manager for Personal and Homecare categories at Wilmar, Maame Adwoa Markin explained that the Maame Mo campaign was instituted to coincide with Mother’s Day celebration while honouring and encouraging new mothers.

“We know mothers are pivotal in our family and society so to celebrate the day, we visited the Police Hospital in Accra. We brought bountiful gifts of Alife soaps and Jamaa detergents to help mothers especially the ones with newborns. Through our Maame Mo campaign, we’re telling mothers that they have a wonderful experience ahead of them with Alife and Jamaa soaps by their sides while keeping their homes clean”, she said.

Mother's Day is an annual event celebrated on the second Sunday in May. Mother's Day recognizes mothers, motherhood and maternal bonds in general, as well as their positive contributions to their families and society. To mark this year’s Mother’s Day Celebration, Alife and Jamaa soap brands of Wilmar Africa visited the maternity and children wards of the Police Hospital in Accra.

Gospel musician, Ohemaa Mercy after serenading the mothers, encouraged women to persevere in all endeavors.

“We came to meet an unfortunate event where two babies have been abandoned by their mothers after birth. I know motherhood is difficult but it is important for mothers to be aware and include God in their lives to help them raise their children. As we celebrate Mother’s Day, I would like to encourage mothers to be steadfast in the process of raising responsible adults,” she appealed.

Supervisor of the maternity ward of the Police Hospital, Superintendent Elizabeth Yawson expressed her gratitude for Wilmar Africa's kind gesture.

“On behalf of our medical director, nursing director, my colleagues and the patients, I would like to thank Wilmar Africa for this special treat on a memorable day as this,” she stated.
