Four local hockey teams have intensified preparations for the upcoming African Hockey club championships which comes off next month in Accra.
Defending men’s league champions, Trustees of SSNIT and runners up Golden Sticks of Ghana Commercial Bank as well as ladies champions Extinguishers of Fire Service and Reformers of Prisons Service carry the nation’s hopes for a first continental title.
National team captain Joseph Appiah who also plays for Golden Sticks said preparations are going well.
He said the fact that the championships are being held in Ghana places a huge responsibility on the teams to do well.
Emelia Aggrey, a forward for Extinguishers of Fire Service, said Ghana’s chances are bright.
Meanwhile the deceased Assistant National men’s Coach, Henry Fynn will be buried this weekend in Accra.
