During the week, The Fourth Estate’s Evans Aziamor-Mensah, Adwoa Adobea-Owusu and Manasseh Azure Awuni, in an investigative piece, revealed that Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML), which started revenue assurance services for the government of Ghana in 2020 had made a number of false claims.
The company revealed in February 2023 that it had saved Ghana over GHC3 billion in revenue due to its services based on the contract it signed with the Ministry of Finance and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
While the Fourth Estate has described the contract with the government as shady, SML insists the reporters had their facts wrong.
Today on Newsfile, the host, Samson Lardy Anyenini and his guests discuss the contract, the exposé and whether or not the OSP should initiate a corruption investigation.
The show also looks at the outstanding performance of students in the WASSCE examinations, which the government has attributed to the Free SHS policy.
Again, the recommendation by Pope Francis for Catholic Priests to bless LGBTQ couples or individuals who ask to be blessed has been followed with controversy.
Today's discussion touches on whether or not the Pope's comments have been misconstrued.
