I just read a report from the USAfricaonline.com,with the awful banner "KILLINGS: Libya rebels said to be murdering Black African migrant workers", posted on Aug 29th, 2011, which has vindicated my position that Ghana needs not to rush in giving recognition to the rebels who have seized Tripoli with the aid of Special Forces from foreign countries, and NATO air-superiority. This is only a military victory, not a political one. The prospect of peace and stability in Libya, under the exclusive nature of the NTC and its own internal contradictions, must tell everyone who cares to take a glance, that Libya has a better chance under an "all-inclusive national transitional process, than the current arrangement. It might even help the fragmented TNC to hold together, rather than descend into the bloody power struggles that we saw in the assassination of General Younis recently. That said, I think the first thing the NTC needs to clear up with Black Africa is the treatment of our nationals caught in the cross-fire of this civil war, and how a husband with his wife and children can be confused as a "Gadaffi mercenary" simply because he happens to be black? I am very happy that the AU is taking this matter up. I hope that fellow Africans from those African countries whose leaders rushed to recognize the TNC will come out and let their voices be heard! And give them a taste of a real Arab Spring, without violence, à la Tahrir Square style! And here I am talking about Gambia, Senegal, Cape Verde, Botswana, Gabon, Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, Sudan, Chad, Ethiopia, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Rwanda, Benin, Niger, Togo, Kenya and Djibouti. "Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (AP) — The chairman of the African Union says Libyan rebels may be indiscriminately killing black people in Libya because they have confused innocent migrant workers with mercenaries. Chairman Jean Ping told reporters Monday that this is one of the reasons the AU is refusing to recognize the National Transitional Council as the country’s interim government. He said “We need clarification because the NTC seems to confuse black people with mercenaries …. They are killing normal workers.” Libya’s rebel National Transitional Council appears to have secured Libya’s capital after a week of fierce fighting with loyalists to Col. Moammar Gadhafi. He said there was no doubt the council now controlled the capital city and called on both sides to “stop the killing.” The West singled out Gadaffi for condemnation, while winning and dinning with equally bloody dictators such as the recent reception of the Crown Prince of Bahrain to the White House, and the initial invitation to the Royal Wedding in the United Kingdom. Even then, the excuse they gave was that "Gadaffi had lost all legitimacy by killing his own people"! That is fine with me. What is not fine with me is the demand that we recognize a group that has just lost its credibility in the eyes of Africans by a senseless, indiscriminate, systematic, and widespread killings and lynchings of African people? -- Forward Ever! Backwards Never!!! Cheers!
