The 2024 flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, has called upon the national executives of the party to persist in their efforts to secure victory in the 2024 elections.
He acknowledged the challenges the party might face in the upcoming election but expressed confidence that with dedication and determination, the NDC could emerge triumphant.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, December 17, marking exactly a year since their election, Mahama commended the executives for their commendable efforts thus far.
"My dear NDC national executives, it’s your first anniversary in office, and I want to congratulate you for your hard work, dedication and commitment. This is commendable. Let's continue to work tirelessly for victory in the 2024 elections."
"We have a lot to do, and I am confident that together we can achieve great success," he posted.
NDC conducted its 10th National Delegates Congress on December 17, 2022, under the theme "Rallying for Victory 2024."
A total of 63 candidates contested for 11 positions, with approximately 8,100 out of 9,500 delegates participating in the congress.
The outcome saw Johnson Aseidu Nketiah, the party's former General Secretary at the time, elected as the National Chairman.
Fifi Kwetey assumed the role of General Secretary, succeeding Aseidu Nketiah.
Sammy Gyamfi retained his position as the National Communication Officer, running unopposed and being acclaimed by the party.
