The Vice Presidential Candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has made a passionate appeal to members of the party to forgive one another if they have any outstanding issues and work hard for the party to secure an emphatic victory on December 7.
The party’s interest in winning this year’s general elections for the betterment of the country, he said, must and should remain the primary goal of every party member and this can only come to fruition if the party is united in the prosecution of its campaign.
Napo, as he is popularly called, made this appeal when he was addressing a campaign rally at the forecourt of the Okyenhene Palace in Kyebi, on Wednesday, 27th November, 2024.
“You will recall that in 2008, despite all the good works of President Kufuor, we lost the elections because we didn’t do enough to unite our ranks. We cannot repeat that mistake. We must realize that we can only win elections when we are united; and when that happens, the NDC cannot compete with us in any elections. So, let us be guided and learn to forgive each other for party’s sake”, he noted.
Napo was at the Ofori Panin Fie in Kyebi in the company of his granduncle, H.E President John Agyekum Kufuor, the Second President of the Fourth Republic, on a courtesy visit to the Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II.
The purpose of their visit was to congratulate the Okyenhene on his 25th-anniversary commemoration and to seek his blessings and wise counsel for the NPP Presidential Candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and his Running Mate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, ahead of the December 7 elections.
Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II had no hesitation in giving his endorsement and blessings to the party’s presidential ticket.
He also commended President Kufuor for the many social interventions he implemented during his tenure, which he said, laid a solid foundation for Ghana’s socioeconomic transformation
