Ghana Football Association vice president George Afriyie has exclusively revealed to Joy Sports recent litigation among clubs and judicial issues have caused the association lots of sponsorship deals.
With just some few days to the start of the Ghana league, the FA is still struggling to get a sponsor for the elite competition.
The league has delayed for some months following legal issues involving some clubs.
George Afriyie reveals it has been hard for them to convince prospective sposnsors following all that has been happening.
“The truth is that these litigation issues and wrangling among the clubs is really affecting sponsorship,” he told Joy Sports
“I can tell you that within last month and early this month we were in talks with some potential sponsors but as soon as the ruling of the Ethics committee came out some of the companies called and were asking if the league is indeed going start this month.
“It is really affecting our planning but trust me we are working hard and hopeful of getting a sponsor if not the beginning we might get one within the season.
“Remember in 2013/14 season we had a similar problem but we got First capital plus bank to come on board so we are still talking, we hope that we will be able to find a way out.”
The 2015/16 Ghana premier league will kick start on February 20.
