The Ambassador of Lebanon, Maher Kheir, has highlighted the significant contributions of the Lebanese people, emphasizing their status as some of the most influential individuals globally.

He made these remarks after being recognized as one of Ghana’s 100 Most Influential People at the 2024 Most Influential People Awards (MIPA), held at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra.

Ambassador Kheir received this prestigious award for his impactful leadership and contributions to Ghana’s growth. Known for his visionary mindset and ability to transform strategy into tangible results, Ambassador Kheir continues to excel in diplomacy and leadership.

This year’s MIPA, organized by the Business Executive Group, honoured professionals whose achievements have profoundly influenced Ghana’s socio-economic landscape. The event was graced by government representatives, members of the Diplomatic Corps, industry leaders, academics, entrepreneurs, and other key stakeholders.

Under Ambassador Kheir’s leadership, the Lebanese Embassy in Ghana has expanded its flagship educational scholarship program.

It now supports students in fields such as public relations, languages, performing arts, film and television, and translation.

This is in addition to disciplines like law, journalism, development communication, and media management, which were already part of the program.

Furthermore, Ambassador Kheir spearheaded the establishment of the Lebanese Scholarship Alumni Network (LESAN), which mobilizes its members to undertake humanitarian projects addressing critical needs in Ghanaian communities.

In diplomacy, he has fostered parliamentary collaboration between Ghana and Lebanon through the Lebanon-Ghana Parliamentary Friendship Association.

In trade and economy, he has promoted cooperation between public and private sectors, enhancing economic ties between the two nations.

Ambassador Kheir’s efforts extend beyond diplomacy and trade, encompassing cultural, social, and humanitarian initiatives that have strengthened relationships across various sectors of Ghanaian society.

Receiving the award, Ambassador Kheir, who also serves as the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Ghana and President of the Francophone Ambassadors’ Group, expressed his gratitude to the organizers for recognizing exceptional leadership.

He dedicated the award to the Lebanese people, acknowledging their resilience amidst current challenges, and highlighted their contributions to global sectors such as culture, arts, fashion, trade, economy, and tourism.

“I dedicate this award to the Lebanese people, who have played and continue to play a significant role in many sectors globally, and to the Ghanaian people, who inspire with their strength, resilience, peace, love, and harmony,” he stated.

Ambassador Kheir emphasised that influence is not measured by words but by actions, innovative ideas, and the courage to lead in challenging times.

He also reflected on global issues such as economic and social inequality, human rights, and the impacts of conflict, noting that these challenges demand resilient leadership and unwavering commitment—qualities demonstrated by the awardees.

“Each of you has shown that one person can indeed make a difference, and together, we can move mountains.

"Your influence has the potential to inspire a better future through action and leadership,” he said, congratulating his fellow honorees.
