The Chief Executive Officer of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Dr K. K. Sarpong has called on soccer fans and media analysts to allow the Ghana Football Association president, Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi, space to operate in his quest of searching for a coach for the Black Stars.
Dr. Sarpong believes Mr. Nyantakyi has the ultimate responsibility in the affairs of the GFA and will therefore take the fall for any error in the selection of a coach for the Black Stars.
“We need to realize it’s a very critical issue for the country since the choice of a particular coach is going to affect all Ghanaians, whether positively or negatively. I think it’s important we allow him to have the peace to deal with the situation and there is absolutely nothing wrong if Mr. Nyantakyi chairs the Black Stars Coach Search Committee”, he stressed.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s sports morning show on Tuesday, he condemned views making rounds in media circles against Mr. Nyantakyi’s inclusion in the search committee.
Dr. Sarpong further advised commentators and interest groups who have made derogatory pronouncements against Kwesi Nyantakyie to desist from it and allow him to perform his duties.
In a related development, Dr. K K Sarpong has categorically denied rumours that his administration is being remote-controlled by the life patron of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
According him, he is in charge of the club and takes full responsibility for whatever happens, insisting that he does not take any administrative orders from Manhyia.
Dr. K.K Sarpong however admits that the club is in crisis, but believes things will definitely turn around soon considering the measures they are putting in place.
He noted that, the management will strengthen the team with some signings and do away with players who have shown no commitment to the club.
“We need more quality players and the management is doing everything possible to sign some players when the transfer window opens for the second round” he said.
He added that, the team's new coach, Bogdan Korak is in charge and has the responsibility to identify the players who do not fit into his game plan in order for management to take the necessary actions.
