Asante Kotoko midfielder Larbi Koomson has undergone a successful knee surgery at the Korle Bu Hospital to repair a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.
Koomson had to wait for two weeks before the surgery as the club was trying to raise US$ 7,500 dollars for the surgery.
Russia-based Ghana international Mohammed Rabiu contributed US$ 2,000 to help the club defray the cost.
He has been ruled out for at least eight months after suffering the horrible injury during training last month in Kumasi.
Kotoko acting Chief Executive Officer Opoku Nti in an exclusive chat with Joy Sports noted that Larbi Koomson is responding well to treatment after the surgery
“He had a successful operation and he is now responding to treatment, it is a matter of time because time is the best healer, so he will go through this time and then comes rehabilitation so we just have to pray so there won’t be any complications,” Said Opoku Nti
“The doctor who did the surgery really helped us, we have paid part of the money and we need to pay the rest but thank God for people like Rabiu Mohammed who donated $2000 to help his friend go through the operation.”
