A Bibiani Circuit Court has sentenced Kwaku John 37, a labourer to 15 years imprisonment in hard labour for defiling an 11- year-old girl at Sefwi Nyamebekyere near Wiawso.
He pleaded not guilty.
Prosecuting, Deputy Superintendent of Police Joseph Kwame Anneh told the court presided over by Mr Kwaku Aboagye that the accused and victim stayed at Nyamebekyere near Sefwi-Wiawso.
He said during the morning of August 9, last year, when the village was quiet, the accused called the victim to his room and defiled her.
The prosecution said after the act, the accused warned her not to tell anyone otherwise she would die, therefore the victim did not tell anyone until on October 19, last year when she became sick and could not walk properly.
He said parents of the victim who detected the strange gait of their daughter questioned her and she mentioned the accused who was arrested.
DSP Anneh said a medical form issued to the victim and endorsed by medical practitioner confirmed defilement and after investigations, the accused was charged with the offence.
