His Excellency the President, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills has appointed a National Gas Development Task Force to manage and help expedite the on-going gas commercialization project. In statement signed by the President's secretary, Mr. J.K. Bebaako-Mensah, the task force, to be chaired by Dr. Kwesi Botchwey, former Minister of Finance and a Member of the Economic Advisory Council, will review all aspects of the project, including its technical, commercial, economic and financing options, and make recommendations on the most efficient and viable ways of bringing the project to fruition. Other Members of the Task Force include:
  1. Mr. Amarquaye Amar - Energy Policy Advisor to H.E. the President
  2. Nana Asafu-Adjaye - Managing Director, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC)
  3. Hon. Emmanuel Buah - Deputy Minister of Energy
  4. Dr. Kwaku Temeng - Energy Expert & Member of GNPC Board of Directors
  5. Mr. Seth Tekper - Deputy Minister of Finance & Economic Planning
  6. Ms. Anna Bossman - Deputy Commissioner, Planning, CHRAJ
The statement also said the Ministry of Energy will provide a secretary to the Task Force and the Task Force has a three months mandate to submit its report. Dr. Botchwey in an acceptance speech thanked the President on behalf of his colleagues for the trust reposed in them.
