Asante Kotoko will need to pay up certain fees in relation to the recent transfer of Kwame Opoku, according to Algerian intermediary Abdel Hammouche.
The agent, who was mandated together with Sheriff Farouk El-Sayeed, an Egyptian counterpart by Kotoko through its Chief Executive Officer Nana Yaw Amponsah on January 4, 2021, is due 15% of the total transfer fee per the letter of mandate document available to JoySports.
JoySports understands, Hammouche reported Asante Kotoko to the Ghana embassy in Algeria to implore Amponsah to pay him and his counterpart €45,000 from the deal as agreed in the letter of mandate.
He claims effort to reach the CEO have proved futile since USM made payment to the Porcupines.
However, Joy Sports understands that USM Algiers is yet to pay the transfer fee of €500,000, hence their inability to honour their side of the agreement.
USM Algiers had reported Kotoko to FIFA over the delay of the issuance of the player's ITC because the contract stated that it will be released within a week of signing, while the buying club will intend pay the total sum of the transfer fee within the same period.
However, the money has still not been paid to Kotoko despite wrapping up the transfer last month.
The agents promised the money was going to be paid in earnest, but countless letters demanding the transfer fee have not had any positive feedback.
Kotoko have since ignored the agents for 'lying' to them.
The Porcupines have also held on to documents verifying that he has played for national team, Black Stars, until payment is effected.
This move by the management of Kotoko has stifled the efforts of USM Algiers to register the player - who scored seven goals before completing the move to Algiers - in order for him to play any competitive game for the club.
It does appear that Kotoko could end up reporting USM Algiers to Fifa for their reluctance to pay the money.
