Ghana star Kwadwo Asamoah appears not to have fully recovered from the knee injury that troubled him for much of last season.
The reports follow the omission of the 26-year-old from his Italian club Juventus' 25-man squad for a trip to Poland to face Lechia Gdansk in a friendly game.
The versatile left-footed midfielder, who only managed seven league games last season because of the injury, also missed Juve's weekend 2:0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund.
Asamoah injured his knee in November last year and was only able to play again for Juventus on May 23 this year. He has also not played for Ghana since the injury and missed the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
He was involved in light training with the club's new signings - Sami Khedira, Simone Zaza and Paulo Dybalaat - a fortnight ago at the Vinovo campi Italy.
