David Duncan admits he was highly impressed with his side’s performance despite their defeat to WAFA on Wednesday. But veteran broadcaster Kwabena Yeboah clearly did not see it that way.
The Porcupines lost 1-0 courtesy Ashimeru Wajeed’s strike, meaning the Kumasi side are winless in two successive games. But the former Hearts boss refused to criticize his team, instead focusing on the high points.
“We completely dominated this game. It was just a fluke goal that made us lose the match,” Duncan said post-game.
“We wasted all the opportunities. We were discretional in front of goal, we did not look composed, we were not patient.”
The coach further was also in an encouraging mood, especially considering the team played on an artificial surface in Sogakope.
“I am highly impressed with the performance of my team, highly impressed. This is because we don’t play on artificial turfs but for those people who own the stadium and who play on this pitch week in week out, we outplayed them. Clearly, we outplayed [them].”
“There was no opportunity created by WAFA , not a single one.”
Disagreement
This assessment by the coach is the tangential opposite of what the veteran broadcaster witnessed.
“My personal view is that [WAFA] deserve to win the game. They played some delectable football,” he said.
“The first fifteen minutes, I thought Kotoko had two very good chances that they fluffed. That is as far as I remember. In terms of possession, in midfield, in terms of territorial dominance, WAFA were in total control.”
The big question is: who do we believe?
Per the match report of Asempa FM's Frank Agyam, Kotoko were hopelessly outclassed. He said: "Kotoko had just a few chances at the start of the game, particularly for Dauda Mohammed, but he wasted it. That was about it. WAFA came back strongly and were in charge for most of the game."
It seems David Duncan watched a totally different game as the two pressmen did.
Kotoko face leaders Ashantigold on Sunday.
