Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku will become a member of the CAF Executive Committee during the organisation’s elective Congress on Wednesday, 12 March 2025, in Cairo, Egypt, JoySports can report.
JoySports sources have revealed the Elective Congress will take place in Cairo on Wednesday, March 12.
The Congress will feature critical discussions and decisions on the future of African football, including the election of the CAF President, Executive Committee members, and African representatives to the FIFA Council for 2025–2029.
Mr Okraku, who is running unopposed for the position on the ticket of the West African Football Union Zone B (WAFU B), will serve on the Executive Committee for the 2025–2029 cycle.
The 14th Extraordinary General Assembly, scheduled for 10:00 AM Cairo time, will also see incumbent CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe contest unopposed for a second term.
Alongside Okraku, other candidates for the Executive Committee include Wallace John Karia of Tanzania (CECAFA), Liberia FA's Mustapha Raji, Algeria's Sadi Walid, and Elvis Raja Chetty of Seychelles (COSAFA), among others.
As reported by JoySports, Niger FA President Djibrilla Hima Hamidou will contest for a seat on the FIFA Executive Council alongside Isha Johansen of Sierra Leone, Lydia Nsekera of Burundi, Mathurin De Chacus of Benin, Waberi Souleiman Hassan of Djibouti, Amaju Melvin Pinnick, former president of Nigeria Football Federation, interestingly, is contesting on the ticket of Tanzania FA and not the NFF.
The others are Hany Abou Rida of Egypt, Augustine Senghor of Senegal, Andrew Kamanga of Zambia, and Ibrahim Kanizat of the Comoros FA.
About 12 people are vying for the seats on the Council per details available to JoySports, with only five slots to be occupied.
