During his tour of the Central Region on Wednesday, November 6, President Akufo-Addo took aim at opposition leader John Dramani Mahama, questioning his track record on economic management.
Referring to the collapse of the Kumasi Brewery, which previously operated 24 hours a day, President Akufo-Addo argued that this incident highlights Mr. Mahama’s inability to sustain key industries under his leadership.
President Akufo-Addo asserted that Mr. Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), cannot be trusted to fulfill his promises, labeling him as unreliable.
He urged Ghanaians to consider the economic setbacks that occurred during Mahama’s tenure and to be cautious about returning him to power in the upcoming elections.
The President warned that electing Mahama again would be a “mistake,” as he believes the country would not progress, but rather retrogress under Mahama’s leadership.
President Akufo-Addo emphasised the importance of stability and continuity in leadership to foster sustainable development, urging voters to stick with his administration’s policies.
He concluded by asking Ghanaians not to repeat what he termed as past “errors” by voting for the former president.
President Akufo-Addo’s message was clear: Ghana needs to avoid going backward and should instead focus on building upon recent accomplishments to ensure lasting progress for the nation.
“John Dramani Mahama will come here again before we vote in December 2024. When he comes, ask him about the Kumasi Brewery. It produces beer, and Guinness, and used to work three shifts within 24 hours. It collapsed during his tenure."
“You want a 24-hour economy but couldn’t oversee what was left in your care. Is it now that you are going to do something about it?"
“Let’s not make a mistake and retrogress. Let’s throw our weight behind Bawumia and move forward to take Ghana to the next step of development,” he stated.
