The President, John Agyekum Kufuor, says parliament is government’s ally in the fight against corruption.
Delivering his State of the Nation Address to the House on Thursday February 14, 2008, which is his last as Head of State, President Kufuor said corruption is a threat to good governance, and in fighting the canker, the Executive finds a suitable ally in parliament.
He referred to the work of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of parliament’s public sitting last year. At the sittings revelations were made of public officials who have stolen large sums of public funds. Stories of embezzlement, malfeasance and corruption came to the open.
He commended the PAC for the work it did in that regard.
