Asante Kotoko had to endure a long wait before finding target to set up their place in the semi-finals of the MTN FA Cup competition.
The Porcupine Warriors beat Heart of Lions 3-1 in extra-time on Wednesday at the Baba Yara Stadium to advance from the last eight stage.
Having failed to challenge for the league title, Kotoko's hopes of continental football - Confederation Cup - can only be assured if they win the Cup.
After a goalless scoreline in regulation time, Nathaniel Asamoah opened the scoring in the 98th minute before Samad Oppong and Ahmed Toure added two more goals.
Lions, however, grabbed a consolation with just a minute left on the clock when striker, Gilbert Fiamenyo went clear of the Kotoko backline to beat goalkeeper Isaac Amoako.
Kotoko will play the winner of the June 1 quarter-final clash between Wa All Stars and Medeama SC in the semi-finals.
